SNF FloquipSNF Floquip doubles facility in Liberty County

Floquip Engineering Company (SNF Floquip), a subsidiary of SNF Holding Company, a global leader in the manufacture of water-soluble polymers with significant operations in Riceboro, Ga., announced in October 2014 a $7 million expansion of its Midway facility. SNF Floquip will double the size of its 80,000-square-foot building in the Midway Industrial Park, which has 50 direct employees and an additional 80 on-site contractors who provide welding, pipe-fitting and fabrication.

The 160,000-square-foot facility will be sixteen times larger than the 10,000-square-foot building in Riceboro where the company launched with about 15 employees in the early 1990s. In November 2011, the facility moved to its current 80,000 square-foot shop in Midway Industrial Park.
“You’d have never imagined five years ago that going from 10,000 to 80,000 wouldn’t meet our needs,” the facility manager says.

Pactra Hankook signageKorean tire distributor rolls into Liberty County

Korean-owned logistics company Pactra International Co. Ltd. selected Liberty County’s Tradeport East Business Center to establish a Southeast distribution center for Hankook Tire. Pactra leased the 500,000-square-foot Silver LEED-certified, cross-dock spec building owned by IDI and DCT Industrial Trust in Tradeport East Business Center in fall 2013. The distributor began serving 10 Southeast states in early 2014.

“Hankook wanted to increase its market share in the Southeast, and we felt Georgia’s central location among the southeastern states offered a strategic advantage,” said Pactra Chief Operating Officer Jason Yoon. “Approximately 600,000 tires will be kept on hand at the facility, and they will be brought in through the Port of Savannah. Tradeport East’s location within one-mile of Interstate 95 also is a very attractive feature.”

Florapharm TeaGerman-based Florapharm Tea selects Liberty County

Florapharm Tea - USA, a German-based manufacturer and distributor of over 400 varieties of tea, chose Liberty County in 2011 as the new location for its U.S. distribution center (DC). The company plans to employ 50 in the first five years of the operation, with the potential to expand both the facility and employment opportunities in the future. Florapharm joins several other internationally-based companies in Liberty County, to include another German-headquartered company, Hugo Boss, which has a 330,000 SF DC in the community.

Florapharm cites Liberty County's proximity to the Port of Savannah and the support they received from the Liberty County Development Authority as key reasons for selecting the community. In addition, the "Heroes for Hire," soldiers exiting the Army at Fort Stewart and entering the civilian workforce in the area, were also instrumental in the company choosing Liberty County.
