Recreation & Entertainment

Boaters on Liberty County marshesLiberty County's coastal waterways and woodlands make it a prime location for outdoors enthusiasts, and programs and facilities made available through the Liberty County Recreation Department and the YMCA of Coastal Georgia's Hinesville/Armed Forces branch provide opportunities to remain active.

Liberty County has two marinas, several public fishing piers and boat ramps in addition to two hunting clubs. Dorchester Shooting Preserve, a 5,000-acre habitat for pheasant, duck and quail hunting, is adjacent to Tradeport East Business Center and has a world-class lodge. Hinesville also has a golf course where enthusiasts can perfect their swings.

The Liberty County Recreation Department operates 20 parks that feature public pools, playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, picnic areas and more. The department also offers sports leagues for all ages; children can participate in football, baseball and softball, cheerleading and Tae Kwon Do, while adult leagues include volleyball, soccer and softball.

For entertainment, area residents can catch new movie releases at the Hinesville cinema and hear live music at several restaurants. Recurring events, such as Blues & BBQ or the Small World Festival, bring together performers, vendors and restaurateurs to offer family fun.

Additional entertainment opportunities, such as theatre, arts and music, are available in nearby Savannah.
