    Hinesville-Fort Stewart MSA among top four fastest personal income growth rates in the U.S. in 2010

    Hinesville, Ga. – According to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Hinesville-Fort Stewart, Ga. metropolitan statistical area (MSA) experienced one of the top four fastest personal income growth rates in the U.S. in 2010.

    In the four MSAs having the fastest personal income growth rates in 2010 – Elizabethtown, Ky.; Lawton, Okla.; Manhattan, Kan.; and Hinesville-Fort Stewart, Ga. – government earnings growth, particularly for the military, was strong. In these four MSAs, military earnings grew 14 percent or more in 2010.

    “The Hinesville-Fort Stewart MSA’s personal income growth is a testament once again to how Fort Stewart continues to have a positive impact on Liberty County and surrounding communities,” states Ronald E. Tolley, chief executive officer of the Liberty County Development Authority (LCDA). “We are working diligently at the LCDA and with partnering organizations to continue to support the growth at Fort Stewart, as well as to recruit and retain industry to help further increase personal income in Liberty County.”

    The Hinesville-Fort Stewart MSA ranked fourth in personal income growth in 2010 out of the nation’s 366 MSAs. In 2009, the Hinesville-Fort Stewart MSA was ranked 249th in personal income growth.

    Personal income in the metropolitan portion of the U.S. rose 2.9 percent in 2010 after falling 1.9 percent in 2009. In 2010, the Hinesville-Fort Stewart MSA saw a 7.9 percent increase in personal income, compared to a 1.4 percent decrease in 2009.
