    Hinesville has record number of jobs in November

    Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said that Hinesville set another record in November for total jobs. At the same time, the unemployment rate fell. Hinesville maintained annual growth in all critical measures across the two-county metropolitan statistical area (MSA).
     
    “This really has been a great year for Georgia,” Butler said. “Across the state we continue to add jobs, and find people to fill them. We’ve routinely set records. There is much to be thankful for this holiday season.”
     
    The unemployment rate for November fell 0.3 percent, settling at 3.6 percent from the previous month. A year ago, the rate was 4.7 percent. That rate was eighth among the 14 MSAs. The rate decreased in 13 of the 14 MSAs.
     
    Hinesville’s labor force fell by 192 in November to 33,597. That number is up by five over the past year. Hinesville lost 87 employed residents in November, pushing the total to a record high of 32,382. The number is up 374 for the year, or about 30 per month.
     
    Jobs in Hinesville grew by 100 in November to a record high of 20,900. The job total in Hinesville is up by 400 over the year – an average monthly increase of about 30. Claims for unemployment insurance decreased by 7 percent in November. Claims are down by 43 percent when compared to November 2017.
     
    Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed 194 active job postings in metro Hinesville in November.
