    gas expansion

TPE_AGL_2014_46-(1).JPGMIDWAY, Ga. Oct.16, 2014 Atlanta Gas Light and Liberty County Development Authority officials held a groundbreaking ceremony at the Tradeport East Business Center to commemorate the start of construction on a $9.7 million natural gas pipeline in Midway, Ga. The project, which allows Atlanta Gas Light to expand natural gas service under the Strategic Infrastructure Development and Enhancement (STRIDE) customer growth program, supports development of industrial businesses in the area.

“The Georgia Public Service Commission supports the expansion of natural gas services to customers in Georgia,” said Marisa Simpson, director of community relations and economic development for AGL Resources. “This natural gas pipeline project is a great example of the vision they have for continued growth in Georgia.”

The Liberty County Development Authority also played a major role in bringing natural gas service to current and future customers.

"We are grateful to the Public Service Commission for affirming the vitality of Tradeport East Business Center," said LCDA Chairman Allen Brown. "Increasing the gas capacity equips our existing industries to better meet demands of their respective customers, which strengthens their local business operations and preserves existing jobs. It also supports the Liberty County Development Authority’s mission to attract new employers to our community who will create additional job opportunities for our residents."

The 9.8-mile high-pressure gas line is the first of several customer growth expansion projects planned in Georgia. It will serve Tradeport East Business Center, Midway Industrial Park and Tradeport West Business Center.
